We are simply a group of Christians assembling at the corner of Northfield Blvd and Pitts Lane in Murfreesboro, TN. Our unified purpose is to worship God and to live our lives in His service and in obedience to His will. In order to do that, we must study to show ourselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15). We greatly encourage individual Bible study on a daily basis, but we also come together for periods of collective Bible study, encouragement, and edification.

We invite you to come worship with us. At the same time, we realize that people are oftentimes hesitant to go into a strange place simply because they are uncertain about what to do and what will be expected of them. This is especially true when asked to attend a "religious" service. In introducing ourselves to you, we want to set your mind at ease by telling you what you can expect when you visit with us.

You will be a respected guest...

You will be welcomed with kindness and courtesy, and you will not be called on or singled out in any embarrassing way (James 2:1-9). We are pleased to meet others who are interested in studying the Bible.

Our assemblies are not designed for an outward display of emotion or entertainment, but are simple, heart-felt, devout periods of worship and study; they are patterned after the New Testament assemblies (1 Corinthians 11:2; 14:33, 40). We hope our assemblies reflect the daily attempt to be more like the Master (John 13:14). We will not make you feel out of place, or sorry you came.

Our services will be based on the Bible...

You will hear scriptures read and discussed as we study how God wants us to please Him. Some of these passages may be new to you, but we hope you will be challenged by them. We are compelled to teach the gospel in its entirety (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 20:27). 

The word of God produced Christians in the first century and will produce the same in the twenty-first century. We preach and teach this gospel in love, trusting that everyone present will apply it to their personal lives. We believe that the gospel was meant to change lives, and we preach and teach with that consideration in mind (Romans 1:16; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:2-3).

Our worship will be simple...

We will strive to imitate the patterns of the worship of early Christians. We will attempt to order our work and worship by using examples of New Testament congregations.

This will involve SINGING together and inviting you to join in (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:17). You will not find a soloist, choir, or mechanical instruments of music. Men of the congregation will lead this singing.

Our worship will also involve PRAYING together. This is a time when we are able to verbally communicate our thoughts to God. One of our male members will be called upon to direct our minds together in prayer (1 Timothy 2:1-8).

We will also remember the Lord's death on the first day of the week. We will do this by observing the LORD'S SUPPER. This is a simple memorial in which we partake of unleavened bread in memory of the Lord's body, and fruit of the vine in memory of His blood (Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29). This memorial is for every Christian and is observed only by those who have obeyed the gospel of Christ to become members of His church.

On the first day of the week, we will also CONTRIBUTE from our personal funds to the work of the Northfield church. As our guest, you will not be expected to contribute, but you will not be prohibited from it. Again, we do not want you to be embarrassed in any way. No contribution is taken on any other day to support the local work and we will not sell anything or try to coerce anyone into giving. The work of the church is made possible through the free will and cheerful giving of its members (1 Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7).

On Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, we make special arrangements for BIBLE CLASSES for all ages. We have a very effective Bible class curriculum emphasizing a complete study of the Bible text over a several year period by dedicated teachers who care about their students and their growth in knowledge.

During the worship hour, we will have a SERMON presented by our preacher. These lessons will be designed to exhort and encourage all in attendance to submit to the will of Christ, and to make Him Master of their life (Matthew 7:24-27). You are invited to take notes and turn to the scriptures to make certain we are teaching what the Bible teaches. We are only attempting to "preach Christ and Him crucified" with the same simplicity that characterized the apostle's presentation of the gospel (1 Corinthians 2:1-5).

At the close of the lesson, any who might wish to become Christians are invited to make this known and be "buried with Him in baptism" for the remission of their sins (Romans 6:3-6; Galatians 3:27; Acts 2:38). There will be no singling out of guests, no one will be asked to stand and raise his hand or be compelled to come forward.

Neither the worship nor the invitation is designed to embarrass or entertain, but to teach and aid those who wish to follow Christ (1 Peter 2:21). So please, join with us as we seek to serve God simply and according to His plans.
